AU plug SAA/RCM compliance?

Hi,

I've recently received a couple of the AU no relay power monitoring plugs (PG05V2N-AU10A-ESP-1). I see a CE label on the plug but no RCM label, are these plugs AU/NZ SAA/RCM compliant?

It would be great if your able to add the symbol to show compliance:

RCM symbol

After ordering a couple of AU smart plugs from Athom myself and starting to test them in my home automation setup, I immediately ran into the RCM/SAA compliance question — without proper certification I didn’t want to risk safety on a 230V network. I had to record detailed test videos of relay operation, power monitoring and stability under load to understand the devices better and share with friends. That’s when I realized how crucial a convenient video editing tool is. I switched to https://www.movavi.com/ — it lets me quickly cut clips, add text, stabilize footage and export in the right format. Thanks to Movavi my smart device review videos became much higher quality, and the editing process turned from a chore into a pleasure. Now I confidently publish content and help the community with real hardware tests.

Athom Plug V3 relay wiring

During reset ESP32 pins are set to their defaults, which happens to be low for pin 5, where the relay is connected to. If it was inverted, active low, then reboots for any reason (connection loss, ota updates) would not cut the power. This is very unfortunate, since I can only use it with UPS protected devices or where a short power loss does not matter much. You could argue that the current way is better, a turned off plug would turn on for a short time, and somebody would not want that, but how likely is that.

Athom v2 Us unable to handle constant heavy load

Athom V2 us shutdown under heavy load (about 1100 watts) switch is rated 16 amp so suppose to handle 1800 watts.

This happened with Athom v1, so I decided to used the upgraded version V2

Seem more robust but as soon as the load reach around 1100 watt: the swith reboot (cutting the power to the load)

Removing the plug: the outlet can easily handle the load.

The load is a 120 volt 9000 btu Heat pump driven with autotransformer to 240v , the heat pump in heating mode is rated at 907 watts. (adding 30 watt idel autotransformer and 10% transformer lost) I run at about 1100 watt. That always the latest reading before shutdown. The Load run always about 1 minute at this level before shutdown!

My best regards

1100 watts may be the last reading, but perhaps it spiked and failed before a new accurate reading was reported. Also, thinking if the athom reports watts as an average wattage for each of some small period of time rather than peek watts, it would not accurately reflect a very high but momentary spike. Might be worth getting a dedicated load sensor between the outlet and the heat pump.

Smartplug V2-Esphome flashed - Cant configure wifi

Hi All,

I purchased 2 of these some time back and just getting around to configuring them. One configured without any issues, but the other will not accept the WiFi credentials.

So, the AP is shown and I connect to it. I then get the Configuration page to enter the WiFi SSID and password. I enter them (same as the other one that worked), click on SAVE and I get a green box stating the device will connect to the network and it could take some time. It never connects, the plugs AP is always up as my device never drops connection. I have tried this for hours with different devices (phone, a few laptops, etc) connting to the AP, but always exhibits the same outcome as mentioned above. The Blue LED is always flashing at a consitent rate.

I have tried to reset the plug (power on/off 4 times) to se to factory,…
