Online Car Auctions & Bidding Restrictions

Hey guys, quick question about bidding on Copart. I found a great deal on a rebuildable truck, but when I tried to place a bid, the platform blocked me saying I need a commercial dealer license. I'm just a private buyer trying to get a project car for myself. Is there any way around this, or am I completely locked out of these auctions?

Yeah, that’s a classic roadblock. Bidding rules aren't uniform, and states like California or Florida strictly block private individuals from buying salvage cars directly. The easiest workaround is to use a registered auction broker to place the bid under their commercial license. Before you sign up anywhere, check out this quick state-by-state guide at https://blog.autobidmaster.com/2026/06/auto-auction-licensing-requirement/ to see exactly which states allow public bidding and where you absolutely need a broker to handle the paperwork. It saves you a ton of hassle!
